KulshanCLT’s Next Executive Director

Please join us in welcoming our next Executive Director: Rose Lathrop!

Rose is a dynamic nonprofit leader based in Bellingham, WA, with a true passion for ensuring our community grows intelligently and with seven generations in mind. Known for her vivacious energy, Rose excels in creating positive change and fostering meaningful connections within diverse communities. She is deeply committed to driving strategic initiatives that promote equity, inclusivity, and social impact.

Rose formerly served as the Interim Executive Director and Program and Finance Director at Sustainable Connections, where she oversaw a dedicated staff of 36 and managed a substantial budget of $3.1 million. Her tenure has been marked by strategic planning, financial modernization, and leading their Toward Zero Waste, Housing and Smart Growth, and Energy and Green Building Programs.

Previously, Rose held the position of Executive Director at NW American Institute of Architects, where she supported advocacy and policy development, led strategic planning, and facilitated a successful merger with the Seattle AIA. Her career began as a Project Manager at Aiki Homes, focusing on low-impact, green building developments.

Rose is actively involved in her community, serving on various boards and committees, including the Downtown Bellingham Partnership Board of Directors and the City of Bellingham Planning Commission. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy and Urban Planning from Western Washington University and is a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor and LEED Accredited Professional.

Rose's skills encompass financial planning, management, human resources, exceptional communication, and fundraising. Her dedication and impact have been recognized with several awards, including the 4 Under 40 Honoree by the NW Energy Efficiency Coalition.

Rose shares, “I am thrilled to join the KulshanCLT team and contribute to advancing affordable homeownership opportunities, ensuring our community is one that everyone can afford. It's an honor to bring my skills to an organization that deeply impacts my community and aligns so closely with my values. With the need for hundreds of permanently affordable homes for our moderate to low-income families at an all-time high, I am eager to collaborate with the KulshanCLT staff, partners, homeowners, and donors to make this vision a reality.”
